Renovation Huidenclub
The Rotterdamsche Huidenclub building, dating from 1904, has long been a home for creatives and makers.
However, the building no longer meets today’s standards: energy consumption is high, the spaces lack a connection to the street, and individual entrances are missing. The high windows and closed façades make it feel inaccessible and detached.
Over the past century, numerous extensions and modifications have been added, resulting in a fragmented and hybrid appearance. A series of small interventions has ultimately produced an unclear and impractical layout.
Our proposal restores the original hall of the Huidenclub to its former glory. The characteristic glass façade will be extended down to street level, bringing light, transparency, and vitality back into the building. Each user – from furniture maker to coffee roaster – will have their own entrance, giving the Huidenclub a renewed openness and identity rooted in craftsmanship.
